Two Shows + Tea Time with Uncle Twerl
Creative culinary offerings and an intimate podcast interview
Hey! It's been a minute since I last checked in—I've been taking some time to work on a few personal projects, including my ultimate ongoing project: myself. But I'm excited to jump back in and share a few things I've been really excited about lately.
I've found two amazing cooking shows hosted by incredible Black chefs and was featured in a fun, intimate conversation about love, life, and alignment with my dear friend on his “Tea Time with Uncle Twerl” podcast. So, let’s get into it…
Chasing Flavor
As someone deeply invested in the intricacies of food and its cultural significance, I recently found myself captivated by Chef Carla Hall’s "Chasing Flavor." This series is a delightful exploration into the roots of American food culture, taking us on a global journey that reveals the unexpected Indigenous origins and influence of many dishes we’ve come to love—like shrimp grits, hot chicken, al pastor, and even ice cream. Each episode is not only a culinary adventure but also as a bridge connecting diverse traditions and histories with fascinating discoveries. Carla’s enthusiasm and genuine curiosity make the show a true celebration of culture, culinary history and individual authenticity. Stream on Max ▶️
Wildcard Kitchen
In the captivating culinary showdown "Wildcard Kitchen," hosted by Chef Eric Adjepong, chefs dive into a thrilling after-hours poker game in the Food Network kitchen where the stakes are as high as their culinary ambitions. This show combines the high-stakes excitement of poker with the creative challenges of cooking. Participants start with $5,000 and must skillfully craft dishes using random ingredients dealt to them through cards, with unexpected wildcards throwing additional challenges into the mix. The show not only tests the chefs’ culinary skills but also their ability to adapt and innovate under pressure, offering viewers a unique blend of action, suspense and culinary inspiration. Spilling the Tea with Uncle Twerl
In a recent episode of the "Tea Time with Uncle Twerl" podcast, which is probably my favorite of all the interviews I’ve ever done, I had an opportunity to catch up with my long-time friend, Uncle Twerl. We sipped on mango green tea and had a great conversation about the themes of my Prodigal Sun podcast and what to expect from the forthcoming episodes, as well as the connections between personal alignment, intentional living, and the significant impact of healing on both my art and relationships. This session provided a platform not only to share the contours of my personal journey but also to resonate with listeners navigating their own paths toward self-discovery and authenticity.
